Last week, the owner of Shiela’s Shamrock, a popular souvenir store located on Market Street in Downtown Charleston, called Disaster Plus (24/7: 843-724-7247) for fire smoke repair after a blaze broke out at T-Bonz Bar and Grill, which neighbors the store. The fire began in the T-Bonz kitchen around 9:40am on Feb. 5, and, luckily, did not spread outside of the kitchen area. Although the fire itself was contained to T-Bonz, smoke from the fire reached Shiela’s via the store’s shared attic space with the restaurant.
From the Charleston Post and Courier:
Firefighters were called to the restaurant at 80 N. Market St. about 9:40 a.m. They arrived within three minutes and found heavy smoke coming from the roof, according to Chief Fire Marshal Mike Julazadeh, a spokesman for the Charleston Fire Department. Employees who were working in the kitchen area reported that they tried to extinguish the flames, which spread through the walls and reached the roof. The cause is under investigation.
When the Disaster Plus team arrived at Shiela’s Shamrock the next day, the entire store smelled like a giant bonfire. Our team went to work immediately to eliminate the odor damage to the store using our specialized techniques for fire smoke repair, recognizing that time was of the essence, as the store would have to be closed until fully treated. The first step we took in treating the damage is explained in the following video:
