Since establishing Disaster Plus with his wife Tracy on New Years Day of 1986, Fred has worked relentlessly to ensure that Disaster Plus continually offers Charlestonians the best restoration services available anywhere. His high standards of ethics and business practices have made Disaster Plus into a company trusted by residents of Charleston for 29 years now. With nearly three decades of experience in the Restoration industry, Fred has faced almost every scenario imaginable when it comes to dealing with residential and commercial disasters. Highly educated and experienced in dealing with disasters, Fred offers customers of Disaster Plus the peace of mind that their disasters are being dealt with in the smartest and most cost effective ways possible. Fred graduated from Clemson in 1980 and loves his Tigers. An active member in the community, Fred’s favorite roles include leading worship at Dayspring Fellowship with Tracy and serving on the board of Eagle Harbor Boys Home. A rocker at heart, Fred enjoys attending concerts and learning music history. Fred and Tracy have been married for 31 years and have two children, Keating and Julia Ann.
Much of Disaster Plus’ success over the past 29 years can be attributed to Tracy’s efforts in the office. Tracy has worked tirelessly over the years to ensure that all of Disaster Plus’ jobs are billed fairly and according to industry standards. She speaks daily with customers and insurance adjustors alike to make sure that all parties involved with a particular disaster are paid what they are owed and in a timely manner. She has been happily married to Fred for 31 years and loves more than anything to be the best mom and wife that she can be. Friends often fight for a spot at Tracy’s table, as many consider her a master chef when it comes to fixing up some Southern favorites. If you ever get the opportunity to talk with Tracy, I’m sure that you will agree with us here at Disaster Plus when we say that Tracy is one of the nicest people to have ever walked God’s green earth
Penny has been working with Disaster Plus for the past four years as Disaster Plus’ Production Manager. As Production Manager, it is Penny’s job to always make sure that the right people and equipment get to the job in a fast and timely manner. Penny is also an IICRC Certified Water Damage Restoration technician, possessing the knowledge to collaborate with our technicians on the job, while also working and communicating with our clients from our office. With over 30 years of experience in Office Management and Sales, Penny is referred to as “The Bulldog of the Office”, for if there is ever a problem, Penny will find a solution. When not at work or helping to answer our customers’ calls 24/7, Penny enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, traveling and hunting for treasures at local thrift stores and yard sales. “I love my job and can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings for Disaster Plus!”
Barb is normally the first person you speak to when you call the office. Her interaction with customers and prospective clients puts them at ease by letting them know that the Disaster Plus Team is here to take care of them. Possessing a strong sales and customer service background, Barb is destined to make you feel better than you did before you gave Disaster Plus a call. She is without a doubt “The Disaster Plus Cheerleader”, always offering up encouragement to our customers and those on our team. When asked if she had ever been a real cheerleader, it came as surprise to everyone at Disaster Plus when Barb replied, “No.” She reassured everyone though that she was the best at “Sideline hollering.” Barb is a native of Charleston and a Bishop England graduate. She enjoys a variety of crafts including stained glass, card making, and custom jewelry design. Barb likes to read, and looks forward to the next camping trip with her family, as her happiest moments are those spent with her two grandchildren.
Laura earned her degree in Business Management with a concentration in Accounting from Virginia Wesleyan College in Norfolk, VA. Her love of solving accounting problems and helping to keep things organized has remained steadfast throughout her 30-year accounting career and time with Disaster Plus. Laura has been married for 35 years and has three grown children who are all married. One of her daughters is a manager for Cox Communication in Virginia, another is a nurse at MUSC and going to school for her doctorate, and her son just returned from Finland on a Fulbright Scholarship. Laura also has a Grandson that is four and a Granddaughter that is a year and a half. Laura enjoys spending time with her growing family and doing just about anything outdoors, especially running, hiking and going to the beach. She is a proud member of the Disaster Plus Team and is happy to be a part of a company that offers a premier service to those in need.
Steve is a salesman for Crawlspaces Plus, a Disaster Plus company that specializes in fixing crawlspace problems of all types. His previous work experience includes 18 years in the banking industry as a retail and commercial loan officer, as well as having his own residential garage remodeling and renovation business. Steve passionately believes that by lowering moisture and sealing off the crawl space to the outside elements, he is delivering tremendous benefits to his customers. Steve brings a focused, intelligent approach to each job and is a true professional and has excellent troubleshooting skills, which have benefited his many customers. Steve enjoys meeting with homeowners and helping them to create a healthier home for their families. When away from work, Steve’s favorite thing to do is spending time with his children. Together they love the outdoors, and playing tennis.
Dave is a highly trained Restoration Technician that has been with Disaster Plus for the past two years. Dave is originally from Florida and has a background in plumbing, electrical, and carpentry remodeling. When Dave isn’t making everyone’s day out on a job, he enjoys to read and to spend time with his wife and four lovely children, who range in age from 14-22. In addition to being a father and husband, as well as a Disaster Plus employee, Dave serves as a Life Course Leader at Seacoast Church. His favorite aspect of working with Disaster Plus is having the opportunity to provide a supreme service to those in need of aid.
As the daughter of Disaster Plus presidents Fred and Tracy Norris, Julia Ann is unwavering in her pursuit to help Disaster Plus be the absolute best company that it can be. After deciding that she no longer wished to pursue a Communications Degree from Clemson University, Julia Ann returned to Charleston and immediately partnered with her family’s business. She has now been working full time with Disaster Plus for two years, and is “Thrilled to be pursuing a career in this exciting and ever changing industry.” Julia Ann considers it an honor and a privilege to work for the business that her parents created. Both Disaster Plus customers and employees alike have praised Julia Ann for possessing one the strongest work ethics. She says she loves the work that she does, “Because it involves helping people, which yields a priceless reward.” In her free time, Julia Ann enjoys being with friends and writing and performing her original music on the piano.
James is a highly trained Water Technician, who has been working with Disaster Plus for the past nine months. After graduating from Newark High School in Newark, Ohio, James joined the military where he served his nation diligently for three years. After serving his time, James decided to leave Ohio in order to be closer to his parents, who had moved to the Charleston area several years before. James’ favorite aspect of the job is its fast paced nature and being able to help people in the midst of an emergency situation. When he’s not working, James loves fishing with friends and keeping up with the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Chris works with Crawlspaces Plus as a Crawl Space Encapsulation System Specialist. With 20 years of experience in home remodeling and improvements, Chris has developed a sharp eye for detail, helping customers of Crawlspaces Plus save hundreds of thousands of dollars through the transformation of their crawlspaces. Well aware of the benefits derived from having an encapsulated crawlspace, Chris enjoys the fulfillment that comes with making an unhealthy, wet, and moldy crawlspace into a clean and healthy environment. Chris’ hobbies include spending time with his son and anything outdoors, such as surfing, skateboarding, trail riding, hiking, and spending time at the beach.
